2SV Update - Removal of option to add a Text Message and Voice Call for 2SV; Service Chantge

What is impacted: Microsoft has deprecated the use of Text Messages and Voice Calls for 2SV and as of February 1, 2027, they will no longer work. In preparation for this VIU IT is disabling setting up these methods on new accounts or accounts that have had their 2SV methods reset.
We will be sending out targeted e-mails to those of you still using these methods for 2SV throughout October asking you to migrate to a supported 2SV method. Level of impact: Service Change; New accounts and accounts that have their 2SV methods reset will be unable to setup Text Messages or Voice Calls as a 2SV method.
Existing accounts using Text Messages and Voice calls for 2SV will be able to continue to do so until February 1, 2027, at which point Microsoft will no longer allow you to sign-in to your account until you setup a supported 2SV method. Timing: Thursday, October 1 at 10 am. Preparation: For those of you using Text Messaging or Voice Calls as a 2SV method we highly recommend switching to the Microsoft Authenticator App as soon as possible.
