What is impacted: VIU Services including Library Catalog, VIUBlogs, Meta Project, VIU Contribute websites.
Level of impact: Service Interruption. All services listed will be unavailable for up to 15 minutes during the maintenance window.
Timing: 6:00 am to 7:00 am, Wednesday October 23.
Description: All Linux servers are receiving monthly updates and must be restarted.
Preparation: Please close these systems and all applications connected to these systems before 6:00am. Do not use these systems during the maintenance period.

Scheduled - What is impacted: Network Outage for Building 200. Technicians will be adding a second network distribution switch in B200. This outage will affect both wired and wireless, and Internet access from the building, including access to U drive, shared files, email, web sites.
Level of impact: Service interruption. The network in the above areas will unavailable for up to 2 hours..
Timing: 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Monday October 21.
Preparation: Complete phone calls, data transfers, email send/receive prior to the maintenance window. Have a cell phone handy in case you need to make a call. Blue emergency phones are available if there is an emergency.

Scheduled - What is impacted: Employee and student computers; upgrading software including Office, Adobe, and Windows.
Level of impact: Computer restart. You may receive a system tray message instructing you to reboot this is normal and you should reboot your computer if so messaged.
Timing: Beginning 10:00 pm, Friday October 18, continuing until all computers have been updated.
Preparation: Software updates can cause computers to restart. We recommend that you save and close your work at the end of every day then log off or restart your computer. Do not shut down your computer systems or they will not receive the updates. Your system may not update the first night and may update any of the following nights depending on update load.

Scheduled - What is impacted: Network Outage for Building 395. Technicians will be replacing network equipment in B395. This outage will include both wired and wireless networks. Access to network files, email, 4 digit dialing, VOIP phones, voice mail, and call flows will be impacted.
Level of impact: Service interruption. The network in the above areas will unavailable for up to 4 hours.
Timing: 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm, Friday October 11.
Preparation: Please save and log off from your computer before the outage window. Complete data transfers, email send/receive prior to the maintenance window.
