What is impacted: Parpecut Print Services Outage. The Papercut Payment Gateway module is being installed on our Papercut Server. This is in preparation for the rollout of Papercut to Students. During this maintenance period Staff and Faculty will be unable to use Papercut Printing, Copying, or Scanning.
Level of impact: Service interruption.
Timing: 10:00am to 10:30am, Thursday, October 29.
Preparation: Please print or scan any urgent documents that cannot wait until 10:30am before hand

What is impacted: All VIU technology. VIU IT is performing a major upgrade to our centralized storage system to improve performance, reliability and security in preparation for a capacity upgrade. Access to network shares such as U Drives, My Documents, Desktop Files and Department Shares will disconnect/reconnect four times during the maintenance window for up to 5 minutes. Your ability to log into cloud based services that use you VIU Credentials may also be impacted during the maintenance window.
Level of impact: Service interruption. IT Services and Servers may appear unresponsive for up to 30 seconds, twice, during the maintenance window.
Timing: 9:00pm to 1:00am, Thursday, October 29.
Preparation: Please logoff your computer when you leave for the day. If you need to access and work on files from the network shares listed above during the maintenance window, please copy them to a USB Thumb Drive and work on them from there until the maintenance window is complete. Please remember to copy your files back to the network share afterwards. If you need to access any cloud services during the maintenance window please login to them before the maintenance starts and do not logoff until after the maintenance is complete

What is impacted: Employee desktop computers; Microsoft Office Updates for VIU Campus Employee Computers.
Level of impact: Computer restart. Installations and restarts will only occur during maintenance windows.
Timing: Beginning 1:00am, Saturday, October 31 and continuing until all computers have been updated.
Preparation: Software updates can cause computers to restart. We recommend that you save and close your work at the end of every day then log off or restart your computer. Do not shut down your computer systems or they will not receive the updates. Your system may not update the first night and may update any of the following nights depending on update load.
