What is impacted: Employee and student computers; To improve the security and reliability of VIU-managed devices, we are implementing an automated software update solution for the following applications: • 7-Zip • Audacity • Blender • Dell Command | Update • GIMP • Mozilla Firefox • Notepad++ • GNU Octave • VLC Media Player • Zotero Level of impact: No Interruption. Once per week, employee and student facing devices will check for newer versions of the above software. If an update is available, it will install silently in the background. Timing: Beginning Thursday, August 20, at 10 pm. Preparation: None
