What is impacted:Network and Internet Services; We are updating and testing key components of VIU’s network infrastructure. This work will impact network and internet service across all sites and campuses.
Level of impact: Service interruption. Internet connectivity and connections to the VIU network in this area including shared drives and other hosted services, may be unavailable or inconsistent for up to 30 minutes during the maintenance window. (eg. shared drives, isapp.viu.ca services, remote VPN connections, VoIP phones, the internet, etc.)
Timing: 10pm to 11pm Thursday, May 18.
Preparation: Be aware of the outage window. Please save your work and log off before the maintenance window begins.
If you have a device that requires constant network connection, be advised that the device may be temporarily disconnected from the network to our datacenter or network to the internet during this maintenance window. Please reach out to the IT Service Desk if you have a device that requires constant connection so that we may discuss options.
