What is impacted: All VIU technology hosted at the Nanaimo Campus. VIU IT is performing failover testing of our centralized storage system to verify functionality before the semester start.
Level of impact: Service Interruption. Services and Servers hosted in Nanaimo may appear unresponsive for up to 30 seconds, four times, during the maintenance window. Access to network shares such as U Drives, Roaming Profiles, My Documents, Desktop Files and Department Shares will disconnect/reconnect four times during the maintenance window for up to 5 minutes.
Timing: 9:00 pm to 10:30 pm, Thursday August 16.
Preparation: Please logoff your computer when you leave for the day on August 15th, 2018. If you need to access and work on files from the network shares listed above during the maintenance window, please copy them to a USB Thumb Drive and work on them from there until the maintenance window is complete. Please remember to copy your files back to the network share afterwards.
