What is impacted: Inbound and Outbound mail for VIU. Implementing the final phase of a spam prevention tactic which will turn on the “Delay Queue”. This causes inbound emails that are suspicious to be delayed from between 2-60 minutes. During the delay window, anti-spam definitions are updated and the suspicious email is tested against those definitions again. Legitimate email passes through and spam email is dropped. Level of impact: Degraded Performance. Sending and receiving external emails to VIU may be intermittent for up to 2 hours during and after the maintenance window. Our mail server allows for email to queue up over the maintenance period to be sent/delivered once work is complete. Timing: 10:00 am to 11:00 am, Thursday July 18. Preparation: None required.
